Rugby Football League - Mandatory Insurance

As part of Rugby Football League (RFL) regulations, all clubs, including North Midlands Knights, are required to have mandatory insurance policies in place. These include Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance to provide essential protection for players, clubs, and officials.

To qualify all members and volunteers must register themselves on GameDay.

Serious injuries in rugby are rare, but the financial impact can be significant. Players and clubs are encouraged to consider whether additional cover is needed for their individual circumstances.

PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

  • Public Liability – Limit of Indemnity: £10,000,000 per claim
  • Products Liability – Limit of Indemnity: £10,000,000 per period of insurance

This policy provides protection for:

✅ Clubs

✅ Leagues

✅ Players

✅ Committee members

✅ Coaches

✅ Volunteers (including first aiders)

The cover extends to all Rugby League activities conducted by the club, including sports and social events directly linked to the game. If your club does not own its ground, tenants’ liability is also included.

PLAYER-TO-PLAYER COVER

  • Limit of Indemnity: £10,000,000 (aggregate for all claims in one policy period)

The Player-to-Player Liability Cover, provided by the RFL, insures the liability of one player for injuries caused to another during matches or training. It also covers the liability of coaches and match officials for player injuries that occur during play or training sessions.

This policy covers both compensation claims and the often substantial legal defence costs associated with injury claims.
